Caribbean Surf Trip

The Caribbean surf is a sufrer’s dream.  Yeah Ok maybe it’s not Hawaii, but where is?  But there is so much quality surf just a short plane ride from America’s mainland, Caribbean surf can offer you to be in quality, warm, un-crowed surf on Friday afternoon, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning, and back to work monday morning stoked.

This past weekend the North Coat of the Dominican Republic got hit with a long period Caribbean surf swell.  All the available surf forecast sites gave Cabarete and surrounding areas 2-3 feet at 14 seconds.  Remember that size in surf doesn’t matter (check out how to read a surf forecast if you are wondering what the heck I’m saying)  and period does.

The wave at Playa Preciosa, one of the most quality long period Caribbean surf swell beaches that no knows about and  this Caribbean surf spot was going off!  What is great that is Caribbean surf secret spot is only a 45mins to 1 hour drive away from Cabarete Dominican Republic.  I love that I can in quality un-crowed surf just a short ride away!

It was quality head high and above.  After the surf we had some cold beers and fresh Dominican seafood in the local beach front restaurants after our Caribbean surf indulgence!

It is a weird beach break, but the water is clear and warm and there is a wave breaking!

The Caribbean surf is always a surprise.  I have travelled and surfed the world, but the things that some through the Caribbean have surprised me.  Also it is great to be in a place that the locals are friendly and inviting.  When I am not surfing in the Caribbean, I always wish I was!
